Tourist In Your Own Town

We bought a family pass to be a tourist in our own town. Charleston offers so many wonderful, beautiful and historical site to visit, so in the month of January, Charleston residents can purchase passes and go see the different sites for "free". The cost of the pass is way cheaper than if we paid to get into all the different sites - plus some of the sites hold little to no interest to the boys but Meghan and I enjoy them, so even if we only get to spend an hour or so there it is still a good deal.

Today we kicked off the touring...Tradd, Cooper and I went and toured the U.S.S. Yorktown for a couple of hours. The boys love seeing the jets and planes on the Yorktown and walking around and seeing all the model planes and ships. We had a great time!

Then we came home and picked up the girls and headed out to Magnolia Plantation - we were hoping to tour the swamp gardens but that was not part of the pass, so we stuck to the grounds, which include a petting zoo and gardens to wonder around in. The boys loved the petting zoo, Cooper was even taken into the rabbit pen because he wanted to pet the rabbits, so the zoo keeper took him in. Tradd love picking up sticks and leaves as we walked around the gardens and Cooper kept telling us which way to go (following the arrows on the signs).

We all had a great time and will head out again tomorrow (weather permitting) to take in another plantation or park or whatever tickles our fancy!
